Huawei Mate 40 Will be 50% Faster Than Mate 30 Thanks to New 5nm Chip: Rumor

The Huawei Mate 40 is still months away from being announced but we’re already getting leaks about the upcoming flagship device. Early details have revealed that the Mate 40 will pack the world’s first 5nm SoC, the Kirin 1020.
As the name suggests, the Kirin 1020 chipset will be the next-generation successor to the Kirin 990 SoC currently found in Huawei’s latest flagships. This new SoC will be built on the Taiwanese Semiconductor Manufacturing Company’s (TSMC) 5nm EUV process. It is also expected to be up to 50% faster than the Kirin 990 found on Huawei’s current flagship phones.
Rumor has it that TSMC has the biggest collection of factories for 5nm chip production and they will be commencing mass production in the first half of 2020.

Coronavirus Could Cost Pakistan $4.95 Billion in a “Worst Case Scenario”: ADB

The coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak could cost Pakistan’s economy between $16.387 million to $4.95 billion, or 0.01 to 1.57 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP), said the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
ADB released a study “COVID-19 Outbreak to Have Significant Economic Impact on Developing Asia” yesterday, where it mentioned several scenarios such as best case, moderate case, worse-case and the hypothetical worst-case to assess the impact of COVID-19 on various developing countries in Asia.
COVID-19’s impact is categorized on different sectors including agriculture, mining and quarrying, business, trade, personal, and public services, hotels and restaurants, and other personal services, light/heavy manufacturing, utilities, and construction and transport services.

British Woman Credits a Huawei Smartphone for Saving Her Life

A British woman from Lancaster was saved thanks to a Huawei smartphone.
Beth McDermott, a 42-year-old, lives alone and had an accident at home. She tripped and fell from a flight of stairs and hit her head which knocked her unconscious for three days.
When she woke up, she couldn’t move due to her injuries and due to rhabdomyolysis, a condition where damaged muscles break down rapidly and release myoglobin, it made it hard to move. If left untreated it can lead to kidney failure, which can be fatal.

Uber is Considering Paying Drivers Affected by Coronavirus

Uber is thinking about paying its drivers that have been quarantined or diagnosed with the coronavirus, the ride-hailing service said in a statement yesterday.
Uber drivers have constantly complained about having to drive dozens of strangers every day with a lack of health insurance and benefits amidst the coronavirus outbreak. The situation has left a vast majority of drivers and delivery workers extremely anxious about their health and safety.
As a response, the company is now considering ways to compensate its drivers amidst the outbreak, although it doesn’t explain how it will do it. The statement says:

Government to Release Rs. 29 Billion for Development of Universities

Minister for Federal Education Shafqat Mahmood has stated that the government will soon release Rs. 29 billion for the development of universities under different programs.
Addressing Vice-Chancellors’ Conference in Islamabad, he said his ministry is devising a plan to make universities generate revenue on their own.
The meeting was presided by Chairman VCs’ Committee Dr. Muhammad Ali and attended by Chairman HEC Tariq Banuri and the heads of all public and private universities. The meeting aimed to reflect upon academic, administrative, and financial issues facing the higher education institutions in the country.

Ministry of Finance Rejects False Claims of High Unemployment Rate

The Ministry of Finance has rejected claims and statements insinuating that the unemployment rate will reach 8 percent this year due to prevailing economic conditions which are also wrongly described as leading to a reported loss of almost one million jobs, 24 percent hike in food prices and 10 million people falling under the poverty line.
