EXCLUSIVE: “I hope the situation is conducive if and when Chhichhore releases in China” – Nitesh Tiwari

His 2016 Aamir Khan starrer, Dangal, still retains the record of being the highest Bollywood grosser. Last year, he delivered another smashing hit in the form of Chhichhore and proved that he knows his job, and the pulse of the audience, and that Dangal was no fluke. Yet, writer-director Nitesh Tiwari remains as humble as before. As he celebrates his birthday today, he speaks exclusively to Bollywood Hungama about his birthday plans, what’s keeping him busy in this lockdown and a lot more!

Nitesh Tiwari was busy grocery shopping when this writer called him. He promised to call in sometime which he did and respectfully apologized for not being able to speak before. When this writer said that he thought that the talented filmmaker must have gone out to shop for his birthday, Nitesh jokingly remarked, “Woh (birthday shopping) toh bahut saal pehle bandh kar diya maine!”
On a serious note, he then explains why he has no birthday plans, “There is no reason to celebrate because the whole w..

“As a family, we haven’t got such time off together and we are making the most of it”, says Ananya Panday as she speaks about the lockdown

How is the lockdown treating you? How are you keeping yourself busy?
I am spending most of my time with my family and my dogs. As a family, we haven't got such time off together and we are making the most of it. We’ve been playing a bunch of board games and watching films together. Other than that, I am working out in the evenings on facetime with my friends it’s fun and we stay connected, virtually.

What about Bollywood’s favourite lockdown past time, baking?
My younger sister and I bake together but usually, she bakes and I eat (laughs). I am reading a lot which used to be a hobby when I was younger but I lost touch, so I’m glad I’m getting back to that. I’ve been watching all the old Hindi and English classic films that I hadn’t watched before.
Your career had just started when this nature's brake has been applied. Does it frustrate you to be sitting at home when you should be studio hopping?
I really miss being on set as this has been my life for the last two years. I ..

Priyanka Chopra Jonas recalls how people thought ‘Tinka Tinka’ was sung by her and not Alisha Chinai

Priyanka Chopra Jonas has performed on multiple songs with a variety of singers play backing for her. However, one of the most iconic ones still remains the song ‘Tinka Tinka’ from John Abraham starrer Karam. The song went viral in no time for all the right reasons and Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ red-gown became an iconic look. She posted the video with the caption, “‘Tinka Tinka’ is a song from one of my earlier films Karam (Deed). It released 2005. For those who might not know, Hindi films use playback singers for most actors and I’ve had the fortune to have some amazing singers lend their voice to my films over the years. But when this song was released, most thought it was me…But in fact it was the voice of one of my favorite singers @alishachinaiofficial… she complimented my tone so well. Thank you Alisha!! .. so this Thursday…. #TBT @san..

Nawazuddin Siddiqui defends filmmaker’s rights to opt for digital release

During the past week the debate on the ethics of producers bypassing the theatrical release of their films to go straight to OTT, has heated up. Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui whose long-in-the-pipeline Ghoomketu is being premiered online says he is all for a digital release.

“I can understand the anger of movie exhibitors. But can they offer us a solution? Do we even know when the theatres would re-open, let alone when audiences will feel safe in theatres? How long can we wait? A film like Ghoomketu can’t afford to wait. In fact I feel this option of releasing digitally is godsend for an actor like me. So many of my films lie unreleased. Ghoomketu was completed in 2017. It’s a film I’m very proud of. Why haven’t theatre exhibitors shown any interest in these important unreleased films?”
Nawaz recommends the OTT platform for some of his other long-delayed projects. “Two of my other unreleased films which I’m very proud and would love to see release on the digital platform are Mangesh Had..
