Ambassador of Peoples Republic of China to Pakistan Mr. Yao Jing Visits SCO

Ambassador of Peoples Republic of China, Mr. Yao Jing visited Headquarters Special Communications Organization (SCO) today. On his arrival, he was received by Director General SCO Major General Ali Farhan, HI (M).
The main purpose of the visit was to broaden areas of bilateral cooperation in the field of telecom with special emphasis on Pak-China OFC connectivity by exploring new avenues of collaboration between the two countries.
During the meeting, technological uplift of remote areas of Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and facilitation of telecom connectivity of China with neighbouring countries of Pakistan were also discussed.
During the course of his visit, the Chinese Ambassador was given briefing on updated status of Pak-China OFC Project executed by SCO.

Google Cancels I/O 2020 Online Event

Google had announced a few weeks ago that they’re canceling their annual developer conference I/O amidst health and safety concerns due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The conference was set to take place in May but the physical event got canceled following the virus outbreak.
However, the search engine giant has now announced on Twitter that the online event has been canceled as well. Google’s statement says:
Out of concern for the health and safety of our developers, employees, and local communities — and in line with recent ‘shelter in place’ orders by the local Bay Area counties — we sadly will not be holding I/O in any capacity this year.
Regardless, Google has said that they remain committed to sharing ongoing updates for Android and other developments through developer blogs and community forums.

PIA Suspends International Flights till March 28

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has suspended all international flights from 8 pm today till March 28, according to an official statement.
The decision was taken to avert the spread of coronavirus from different countries to Pakistan as many affected patients had an international travel history.
Passengers with reservations of different flights can get a refund if they want. Bookings will be rescheduled after March 28 without extra charges, the official statement said.
However, the suspension of international flights will be reviewed after March 28 in light of the response to coronavirus in the public interest.
PIA is not the only airline that has suspended its international operations. Worldwide, major airlines have taken the decision of suspending their flights partially or completely for a limited time period to stop the spread of the pandemic.
Countries like UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and others have shut down their airports for foreign flights too.

Google Launches a Coronavirus Information Website

Last week, President Donald Trump announced that Google is making a COVID-19 screening website for US citizens. Later it was revealed that it was actually one of Google’s sister websites Verily that did so for patients willing to get diagnosed around the country.
