The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has exonerated Attaullah, the principal of a private school, who had been sentenced to 105 years of imprisonment in 2018 for multiple counts of sexual offenses including rape, blackmail, and child abuse.
The offender’s appeal was initially heard by a PHC bench comprising Justice Lal Jan Khattak and Justice Mohammad Nasir Mahfooz. Both judges had reservations about the plaintiff from the outset and the case was later referred to Justice Roohul Amin Khan as referee judge, who then cleared the accused of all the charges against him.

Attaullah had previously been convicted under the Pakistan Penal Code on 30 October 2018 by a lower sessions judge.
The acquittal comes after the prosecution claimed that there had been no prior evidence to prove that Attaullah had abused any student or faculty member on campus. His lawyers had also argued that the case had been based on a conspiracy by the owners of other schools out of jealousy and the desire for his failure.

Other reports claim that the case had been spurred by the public outcry against sexual violence in the midst of recurrent incidents across Pakistan at the time.
For now, Attaullah has been acquitted of all the charges against him, and any further updates on the case will be circulated as per the directions of the PHC.
