Australian researchers have found neutralizing nanobodies in camels, alpacas, and llamas that can combat Coronavirus and curb its transmission and mutations.
For the unversed, nanobodies are naturally occurring mini antibodies composed of heavy chains with a comprehensive antigen-binding range that can be easily engineered. Nanobodies are 10 times smaller than regular antibodies and are produced naturally in different camelid species.

Dr. Aashish Manglik, assistant professor of anesthesia and pharmaceutical chemistry at the University of California, has said this study highlights the importance of neutralizing nanobodies against Coronavirus as an important medicinal option.
He added that, unlike regular antibodies, nanobodies are extremely stable proteins that can be easily modified to attack SARS-COV-2, the Coronavirus which causes COVID-19 infection, upon entering the human body.
