Imad Wasim Likely to Become First Pakistani to Sign Big Bash Deal This Year

Star all-rounder, Imad Wasim, looks set to sign with Big Bash League outfit, Melbourne Renegades. According to reports, Imad Wasim is waiting for No Objection Certificate (NOC) from PCB before signing for the Renegades.

Pakistani players have been ignored so far in this edition of BBL due to scheduling conflicts. Pakistan is set to take on New Zealand in a three-match T20I and two match Test series scheduled to take place in December. Imad will potentially be the first Pakistani to be signed in this edition.

Three players from Pakistan have previously represented Melbourne Renegades, Shahid Afridi and Abdul Razzaq played in the 2011-2012 season and fast bowler, Usman Khan Shinwari, was part of the title-winning squad in 2018-2019.

Imad Wasim is a highly sought-after player in the T20 leagues around the world. He recently captained Karachi Kings to their first-ever PSL title and ended a long wait for the franchise to be crowned as champions. He has represented various teams in competitions such as Caribbean Premier League (CPL) and Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). He also recently won the T20 Blast in England with Nottinghamshire.

Last year in the BBL, Pakistani pacer, Haris Rauf, set the tournament alight with his excellent bowling spells and was named in the official team of the tournament. Haris was replaced by Dilbar Hussain when he was representing Pakistan against Bangladesh.

Fourteen Pakistani players have taken part in the BBL since it’s inception. Shahid Afridi, Abdul Razzaq, Haris Rauf, Usman Shinwari, Dilbar Hussain, Mohammad Hafeez, Saeed Ajmal, Shadab Khan, Yasir Shah, Rana Naved, Shoaib Malik, Yasir Arafat, Usman Qadir and Azhar Mahmood have participated in the tournament previously.
