Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on National Security Division and Strategic Policy Planning, Dr. Moeed Yusuf, has been appointed the National Security Adviser on Tuesday.
The notification issued by the cabinet division read,
The Prime Minister has been pleased to approve that Dr. Moeed Yusuf, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on National Security Division and Strategic Policy Planning, shall function as National Security Adviser, with the status of Federal Minister, with immediate effect.

Back in December 2019, Prime Minister Imran Khan appointed Dr. Moeed Yusuf as the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on National Security Division and Strategic Policy Planning.
Dr. Yusuf served as the associate vice president at the Asia Center at the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) and authored Brokering Peace in Nuclear Environments: US Crisis Management in South Asia.
